Introducing, heybaibai!
When I was four years old, I dressed up as Jessica Simpson for my preschool show-and-tell.
While everyone else was bringing their favorite stuffed animals or action figures, I stood in front of the classroom wearing a hot pink scarf and a cut-out picture from People Magazine.
Before I could read, I was flipping through each magazine that entered my house. My mom would gift me her hand-me-downs and I even started my own collection of J-14 and Tiger Beat editions. It was a daily activity for me to rotate through each of them.
I can’t say much changed as I was growing up. However, instead of solely reading magazines, I fell in love with the voice that brings them to life. Writing.
Today, I’m 24 working as a content editor in Dallas, Texas. In the corner of my apartment, my collection of torn-up J-14 magazines sit in a pile waiting to be picked up. I figured it’s only right to use quizzes from one of them as a way to introduce myself in my first blog post.
The first magazine I picked up was the “Best of 2014” edition of J-14. On the cover, Ariana Grande is wearing black sequin cat ears paired with her signature winged eyeliner, and next to her is One Direction promoting their album, Four. Therefore, I knew this magazine was going to give me everything I need.
Seconds after opening the magazine I realized that I am still a 13-year-old girl at heart. The opening question asked “Your friends say that Justin Bieber is old news, but you still love him. You:” and I had to laugh. This magazine was released 11 years ago for 14 year-olds, and loving Justin Bieber is still a major part of my personality. And to answer J-14’s question, I would “Continue fan-girling — who cares?”

Thanks to the results of my second quiz, I have a new way to describe myself. A part-time diva. I don’t know if there is a better way to explain my Type B personality combined with my love for pink and all things girly. I also learned that the celebrity family I belong in is the Kardashians, which I have mixed feelings about. However, when I was 13 I would have cheated the quiz to get this answer.
I wrapped up my trip down memory lane by looking at my horoscope. As an Aries, my “lucky days” listed are Nov. 17 and 21. Considering the day I was reading this magazine was Nov. 17, 2025 I was a little freaked out. So I decided to put my trust in J-14 and publish this post on Nov. 21, but unfortunately I’m a day late (as usual) so I’m going to have to test fate and hope for the best.
Editorial media has worked as an outlet and inspiration for me since I can remember. My goal for this blog is to treat life as my own magazine. I’m not sure how that looks, but I know writing and storytelling is my favorite way to reconnect with myself and others. I’m excited to share my thoughts on pop culture, traveling, fashion or whatever else I’m hyper fixating on in the moment.
In my most overwhelmed states, I’ve always come back to the little girl that flipped through magazines and put words on paper to decompress. I’m excited to use my blog as a way to continue that part of myself.
With Love,

Incredible first blog! I’m so excited to follow along!🩷
