We get to be ourselves 364 days of the year. Or if you’re like me, you throw a few themed parties throughout the 12 months to shave that number down. However, there is only one day each year where everyone is expected to throw on a costume and transform into anyone they like. Halloween is less than one week away, and over the last several years I have found myself either planning something elaborate or rummaging my closet for a last-minute ensemble. Here is a list of 10 of my previous Halloween costumes to give you inspiration for the most thrilling night of the year!
The Simple Life
That’s HOT. Paris Hilton said it best. Duo-costumes are the most fun way to approach Halloween. Especially when you are representing two of pop-culture’s most influential party girls. With denim being a staple in everyone’s closet, this “Simple Life” look is easy to recreate.
Marilyn Monroe
This timeless costume works whether you are third-wheeling or going solo this Halloween. Marilyn Monroe’s white dress, white gloves and red lip is a classic look that everyone will recognize. However, the best accessory to add is a couple to recreate the infamous affair between Marilyn Monroe and President John F. Kennedy.
Harley Quinn
Harley Quinn is Halloween’s mascot for a reason. I believe everyone has to dress as the iconic DC-villain at least once. I decided to recreate Margot Robbie’s rendition of the Suicide Squad villain. However, there are various looks and duo-options to choose from.
Spring Breakers
A24 movies are bigger than ever, so paying tribute to ‘Spring Breakers’ is simple, comfortable and relevant. Use Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens as inspiration when throwing on sweatpants, a sports bra and a ski mask!
Bed Bug
If being comfortable is a top priority this weekend, look no further. Being a “Bed Bug” allows you to wear pajamas as a costume with just the simple addition of antennas. For reality TV lovers, this costume is also a nod to Bravo’s ‘Summer House’ trio that suffered a split this past year.
Victoria Secret Angel
Victoria’s Secret Angels are at the forefront of everyone’s minds following the annual fashion show. This “runway” look is also an excuse to wear pajamas as a part of their look. While we added a rhinestone bra to our look, pink-striped pajamas paired with angel wings will do the trick.
Freddy & Jason
Freddy vs. Jason was a fun way to acknowledge the crossover movie and have the opportunity to participate in the scariness of Halloween. While the Freddy costume is more elaborate, choosing to do a scary mask and all black can be used for most horror film’s signature killers. A quick trip to Spirit Halloween and a fun makeup session will make for the perfect scary costume.
Witch
Last-minute Halloween plans thrown on your calendar? Dressing as a witch is the way to go. All you need is an all-black outfit to match whatever witch hat you can find in a time-crunch. You can dress this costume up or down as much as you would like.
Tinkerbell
Thanks to Disney, we have a never-ending selection of characters to dress-up as. Tinkerbell is another costume that can be used solo or with a group of people. To make your night easier, take my advice and size-down on the wings.
